Fashion Technology Emerging Futures Programme (FTEF) – Jewellery Pioneer

The FTEF project vision is to support the new eco-system emerging in London, recognising the convergence of fashion and technology SMEs.

By way of our four-level tiered offering, the project encourages business growth via a programme of activities. These include intensive bespoke interventions/programmes, one-to-many workshops, fash-tech meet-ups, and Manufacturers Trade Fairs. Centa will be supporting jewellery businesses on the programme.

The programme nurtures emerging London-based jewellery businesses, identifying and providing solutions for some of the issues that may be stifling growth in the early stages of business. This project will particularly assist those designers who would like to move in a more couture direction, either working with precious or semi-precious metals, as well as designers currently showing at, or applying for shows such as Rock Vault or Couture Vegas.

The fully subsidised programme supports businesses for the length of a season (6 months) and provides regular one-on-one mentoring sessions and expert workshops on any combination of the following:

  • Jewellery product development support
  • Production and manufacturing techniques
  • Portfolio development
  • Routes to market
  • Sector specific marketing approaches
  • Industry knowledge and connections (retail, manufacture and design)
  • Project management of collection development
  • Ethical and environmental considerations specifically for the jewellery sector

This programme will run alongside the Fashion and Fash Tech pioneer programmes and will give businesses the opportunity to gain access to other workshops like business planning, finance, accountancy, legal, marketing & PR, branding, digital etc.

A diagnostic review of the business takes place at the start of the season in order to tailor the programme to best suit and benefit the business.

Businesses on the Jewellery Pioneer Programme need to be operating and trading for 3 Fashion Seasons or 18 months and currently have strong industry champions. Businesses maybe receiving showcasing support from Fashion East, Fashion Scout, MAN, NEWGEN or similar schemes. The business may consist of a small team of freelancers and interns. Annual sales will total between £10k – 50k, made up of 5 – 10 stockists and private orders. The brand will have strong press interest or moving in a more couture direction, either working with precious or semi-precious metals.
